Edgardo (Edgar) Baez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, served in the Army from 1989 to 2002, then worked as a critical care nurse and practiced law in Texas for over two decades. He's the Republican nominee challenging longtime incumbent Joaquin Castro, running on veterans' issues, public safety, and what he calls accountability failures in local schools and government.
