Hart, an Army veteran who served from 2000 to 2003, spent her career as a Certified Fraud Examiner investigating major corporate fraud cases including the Madoff and Stanford Ponzi schemes. After her 14-year-old daughter was killed in a school shooting, she spent six years pushing for safer gun storage laws before winning the 2026 Democratic nomination for Texas's 36th District, running on gun violence prevention, reproductive rights, and veterans' care.
